Research Cores

The FAMRI Center of Excellence is organized into four research cores designed to promote synergy among FAMRI-funded investigators at Johns Hopkins. An administrative core provides overall administrative support and integration to the entire Center of Excellence.

Developmental Research Program
In addition to the Research Cores, the Center supports a Developmental Research Program, funding individual projects of particular interest and potential impact, aligned with the capacities of the Center Cores and with the goals of the FAMRI organization.  These “seed” awards are not intended to be renewed, but rather to support initial exploratory research in preparation for longer term independent funding applications.  Funding of the Developmental Research projects is flexible, with projects reviewed annually by an Executive Committee comprised of the four Core Directors, and with funding directed toward projects based on maximizing potential impact on tobacco-related disease.
